Huawei P30 vs P30 Lite: How They Differ From Each Other

In the world of smartphones, there is a crazy trend across vendors to use one form number with an extra addition to make it easier to see which target group it is pointed at. Companies like Huawei have a long history of selling shorter or “Lite” versions of their flagship devices. The top-of-the-line or premium mobiles often have a starting price that is determined by the sector at which they are geared. Unfortunately, these costs are prohibitive for many of us; however, companies such as Huawei sell a Lite version of this phone with a lower price tag than the parent flagship. Today, we’ll compare and contrast both devices to better understand their differences and similarities. As a result, choosing between the P30 vs Huawei P30 Lite would be simpler.

Design and Display

The P30 has a 6.1-inch screen with a 19.5: 9 aspect ratio and Full HD + resolution (1,080 x 2,340) on the front. As weird as it might seem, its little brother has a larger screen, 6.15 inches Full HD + having resolution (1,080 x 2,312). Besides their size, the panel technology is the key difference between these displays. Although the Huawei P30 features an OLED display, the Huawei P30 Lite houses an IPS LCD display.

Both displays are of great quality, with color and brightness reproduction that is more than adequate. Since OLED panels switch off the pixels, they are capable of producing pure black colors. IPS screens, on the other hand, have improved vision angles at the expense of black color reproduction.

Since the displays are so close, a less experienced user would have trouble distinguishing the key. On the front, both displays have the same configuration, the frames have been reduced to almost none on both sides, and a notch in the form of a drop appears at the top of both.

With all control buttons on the right, a USB-C connector at the bottom, and a 3.5mm headphone port, they have almost the same appearance. The triple camera is clearly visible on the rear side of both units. The P30 is packed with the IP53 standard (splash water and dust), while the P30 Lite is not. The P30 Lite fingerprint sensor is located in the middle of the backend and at a convenient height for use. Since the fingerprint sensor is built into the screen, the Huawei P30’s back is totally smooth.

Performance and Storage

On every level, the P30 and the P30 Lite differ from one another, including processing power and app managing speed. The P30, for example, has a Kirin 980 Octa-core processor (2 x Cortex-A76 Based 2.6GHz + 2 x Cortex-A76 Based 1.92 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A55 1.8 GHz), while the P30 Lite features a Kirin 710 Octa-core processor (4 x Cortex-A73 2.2 GHz + 4 x Cortex-A53 1.7 GHz). In our Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Lite review, we examine there is a clear speed gap as a result of this.

Both processors can provide a decent experience for the average user, with the Kirin 980 taking the lead in more complicated tasks. Their differences are significant: the chipset for the mid-range terminal is constructed in 12 nanometers, while its older brother is constructed in 7 nanometers. In the Huawei P30, the difference in construction results in a more energy-efficient processor with more efficiency.

Both processors come with 6GB of RAM, which is a decent amount and even more when we consider that the Huawei P30 Lite is targeted at the mid-range while the Huawei P30 is aimed at the high-end. Without a doubt, Huawei should have used 8GB in its high-end device to differentiate it. Both devices have 128GB of storage, which can be expanded via microSD in the Huawei P30 Lite and NM Card in the Huawei P30.

P30 Vs P30 Lite: Camera

Although the cameras on the P30 Lite do not match the four cameras on the P30 Pro, they are definitely adequate for this price range. They’re extremely adaptable. The Huawei P30 Lite is an example of how Huawei has taken the triple camera to the mid-range. The P30, the company’s flagship smartphone, also has a triple camera. Despite the fact that they have the same number of sensors, they are distinct and have different functions.

In P30 Lite, a 48-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor for the ambient bokeh effect are included. The 24MP front camera has an f/2.0 lens.

In this regard, the P30 outperforms the Lite: first, the P30 employs Leica lenses, which create a sharper image. A 40 MP wide-angle lens with an f / 1.8 aperture, a 16 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with an f / 2.2 aperture, and an 8 MP telephoto lens with an f / 2.4 aperture are included in the Huawei P30. Both of them have a built-in picture stabilizer! In addition, the front lens has a 32-megapixel resolution and an aperture of f/2.0.
These variations are also evident in practice: the camera output on the P30 is significantly better than the P30 Lite. As compared to the P30, the colors are more realistic, the P30 Lite has a smaller dynamic range, and it also lacks clarity obviously. That doesn’t make the camera bad; it performs admirably in comparison to other cameras in its class, but the P30 is superior.

Conclusion

It’s nearly impossible to say which choice you want. Yes, the P30 outperforms the P30 Lite in every way. However, keep in mind that they are from a totally different weight class.

The P30’s camera is considerably better, though the front camera is nearly identical. In every way, the colors on the P30 are the most natural. The P30 Lite will suffice for most day-to-day tasks. It has sufficient memory and processing power to run most applications. Will you have nearly twice the budget to spend? Then you’ll have even more fun with the P30 when it comes to photography.
